Keep Your Mobile Phone Safe
None of us expect it to happen to us, but then it inevitably does. In my case this has happened twice. I’m talking about losing my mobile phone.
The first time I lost my valuable mobile was due to too many beers on a boys night out. I’d been using my phone while on my homeward journey in a taxi and I must have left it on the back seat of the cab. The following morning, when I realized what had happened, I called the cab firm only to hear that my phone had not been found. It was suddenly painfully clear how much of my life was actually stored on my little mobile telephone.
I vowed that I would be far more careful in future and get myself some mobile phone insurance to cover the cost of replacement. The cost of replacement was actually the last thing on my mind as I was more concerned by the lost telephone numbers and contact details.
We’re all guilty of doing it. We run into an old friend and we immediately input their contact details into our telephones and don’t think about transferring those details to our computers or some sort of backup device, like an address book.
I then lost my new phone on yet another night out, but this time I wasn’t drunk. I was convinced that a pickpocket had lifted my mobile from my pocket in the nightclub. It is actually more likely that I dropped it on the floor when trying to get some cash out of my pocket at the bar. I told the club staff but my new phone never turned up.
Stupidly, I hadn’t taken out the mobile phone insurance policy that I’d intended to. But my experience the last time I’d lost my phone had led to my making note of most of the contact details on my phone.
You may be wondering if there is a moral to this tale? Maybe a small one. But I recommend that you routinely backup all of the contact details stored on your phone and get yourself some insurance cover.
